I am treating my fish wth metro tablets (and later will be treating them for tapeworm-with prazi). One of my fish (in this tank), a marlboro red, has a swolen belly.

Is it save to use epsom salt (for bloat) while I am treating them with metro?

What do you recommend?

Absolutely, yes. In fact, using Epsom Salt with Metro is recommended, and it helps to clean out the fish, like a laxative.

I used 2 tbs per 10 gallons of Epsom salt while treating with metro and I swear it looked like the fish loved it!

I read somewhere on here that it has a synergistic effect.

Good luck!

why metro?> I thought swollen, bloated belly indicates internal bacteria infection?

It can but if salt can fix it, then there you go. I think Metro was decided before the bloat, and maybe the fish developed internal issues.
