Would like some opinions on the fish in the attachment. Bought from a guy locally who gets discus in from Kenny and I can't remember what variety it was. Guess I'll have to call him but I thought I'd see what everyone might think. The "guy" in the picture is pushing 6".

Thanks, Kirk

Probably its a medium grade semi-adult Mosaic Leopard discus.

Hope it helps. Good luck.

Definitely not a snakeskin, which would have 14 vertical stress bars and the spots would be smaller and closer together. It is a leopard/spotted leopard.

It seems like you are wondering what others think of the quality of the fish and that may be better assessed in the University section of the forums where you can get it judged by members familiar with the scoring guidelines. One thing that I know off the bat that will lower the score of this fish is the "beakiness" seen around the mouth. This fish might be scored as a 5-6 IMO.

Thanks everyone. I look at the pics from Kenny and sometimes it's hard to see the difference between the various spotted varieties he has (at least to me). I need to call the guy I bought them from but by the time I remember it's too late and he goes to be early. I really wasn't trying to get a rating on his quality otherwise I would have gone to the university section. Just wondering what type others with more experience might think he was.

LOL, its funny how there are so many answers to a seemingly simple answer Kirk. :D

The fish is a leopard, easy as pie.

Take care,

Eddie

Thanks to everyone for their input. I like this strain and my wife like them better than "all of the orange ones" I've been getting. Ironically, came downstairs today and saw that this particular fish was twitching at anybody that would look its way. Turns out it's a female based on the ovipositor. Unfortunately, neither of the other two in the tank gave her much notice. I so wanted to grab my best male in another tank but even though the female seems very healthy, she's only been in QT for 3 weeks. Oh well, guess we'll have to wait it out.
