View Full Version : Missing post...please advise.

Tonight I composed a new thread: "Additions: What am I Missing?" that was regarding some sick discus and the message itself appears to be missing.

After hitting the submit button, a screen appeared quickly that said something like my post will not appear until approved by a moderator, which I haven't noticed since I joined SD since last week. That said, normally, I can see the message and and edit if need be; however, I can't find it under my statistics tab, which would be my eighth post. Please advise.

Thanks for your time,
David

I've lost about 5 that way, apparantly you can't post a link till you got a certain number of posts, I still can't.

Ouch...took awhile to put the first post together. Well I think I'm on track with what is wrong with my fish.

Thanks for the heads up.

David

what threw me off is when you said you joined last year but it shows on your join date July 09?. Regardless, the post shouldn't be lost, it will be in one of the mods' inbox for pending approval posts.

Hi Ricardo,

Yep, joined July 09 / "since I joined last week". ;)

I'm not sure what happened, but normally after submitting my messages you see the a preview of the message and you can edit it if need be. That didnt' happpen on this message alone. And still today, I can't find the message and it doesn't appear in my "statistics" tab included in my total messages submitted.

The good news is that the sickness issue that I diagnosed as ich after reading Arden's previous articles on SD helped a lot. One of my four new discus in quarintine has the first signs of ich (my yellow Siam Master) as of Monday day four from its arrival, but I treated the tank with Quick Cure yesterday afternoon and it is now doing much better this morning. The other three do not have any white spots, but did start to display signs of flashing, but are doing well too.

In my missing post, I listed what I had done and asked if I was missing anything?

Presteps, tested water and all water condition metrics are spot on:

1. added salt at 1.5 tbls/ gal
2. increasing temp from 82 to 90 slowly
3. turned off lights
4. added Quick Cure at 1 drop/gal given the lfs didn't have Rid-ich
5. I will dose every other day for three treatments given the life cycle of ich (thank you Arden)
6. On the seventh day, I will do a water change, add activated carbon, begin to bring the temp back down slowly to 82, and do a large water change.

During interim water changes, I will add QC for each gal of new water.

If there is anything I'm missing, I would welcome your feedback.

Regards,
David

Thanks, I think you're right about the link issue, but all is working out okay.

Have a good one!

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your message and I hope all is well for you.

If I'm following the link you provided, you stated that new members need at least five post before being able to add links to their posts. If that is the case, I had more than five. Additionally, so there is no confusion here... I am not complaining at all. All my posts have been visible quickly before and after the missing post that occurred approximately 9 p.m. EST. 07/13 with the subject line, "Additions: What am I missing?"

So in short, I understand what everyone is advising; however, almost 11 hours later the message is nowhere to be found, but I'm moving on and thought I would just pass along this isolated incident for administrators to be informed.

As for my four new additions, they are doing well with treatment today after reading Ardan's helpful threads on SD and am I'm happy to pass the good news along as well. (actually, the link in my missing post was referencing Ardan's list of links to his previous informational threads that I thought other newbies might benefit from as well, LOL, the irony)

Have a great day!
David

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your message. When I first saw your reply and followed the link, I got a message that took me to a message saying it was and invalid thread. As of 11:51 a.m. the link works and now appears in my "statistics" tab when searching all my posts.

Not sure what happened... cyber gremlins perhaps, but I appreciate everyone's input.

Have a great day!
David

David,

I apologize -- your post count must be 10 or higher in order to post links. You have to have 5 or higher to use the Private Messaging system.

Both of these systems are in place to keep spam off the board. We have about 20+ new members every day and while I catch of most of the spammers before approving their accounts, some do slip through and attempt to flood the board with porn or sales threads.

As I said in the other post, I manually approve all new members and all flagged posts (including yours). I realize this is an inconvenience as it depends on what time I log in each day, but it's really the best solution I can come up with for the time being.

Your post was approved this morning when I logged in which is why it's now visible. It was visible to Dan earlier because he is a mod and as such can see posts that are pending approval.

Ryan,

Makes sense....thanks!

BTW, the "search" is awesome. I've found most everything that I've needed to know by using it before trying to really bother anyone with duplicate questions. Thanks to you, Al and all the moderators for maintaining the site.

David
