For what purpose are you using the pump, for a sump filter?

yes i have a sump filter with sponge (mechanical) and carbon (chemical). I find it eassier to clean. Is this correct?

I have a 60 gal tank. I also have a 298 gph pump which provided way too little flow (after the 4 ft head is taken into consideration). I now use a 635 gph which provides too much flow and has to be throttled back.

In your case, the 635gph might work.
