a wet/dry filter would be my first choice .... other wise i would go with a hang on the back filter and a sponge filter inside the tank .

hope this helps...Ken

The bottom is the same color as the stand

Unless you are getting albinos, you may want to either paint the bottom or lay a thin piece of white styrofoam underneath the tank. The bright/light colors will have your fish exploding with color. A dark bottom will make your fish dark.

I'd use an FX5 PLUS a wet dry. Together will give you EXCELLENT water quality and gas exchange. No air pump required.

Best wishes!

FX5 loaded with media and rigged with a horizontal spray bar to get good movement on the surface for gas exchange.

Very nice tank! Make sure you have a glass cover for it, if you don't already. ;)

Gonna be a nice tank for sure!! Why the power compact over the top of it? Seems like a lot of wasted electricity for a bare bottom tank. Not to mention algae will love you for it. ;) :D

Can you share what the background is? It is a beautiful tank! Show it again when you put in your fish!

I would recommend you add some Hornwort and let is grow enough to cover 2/3 the top. Hornwort grows floating just under the surface and does not have roots. Harvest excess growth as needed. Your discus will appreciate the shade, it with accent the appearance of your tank nicely and the growth consumes nutrients from the water.

I is not something a fish keeper can easily quantify but whenever your plants are growing well the fish seem to do well too.
i would include a common Bushy nose Pleco to help keep the algae under control and it will keep all the glass polished.

Your present filtration should do nicely.

yes, I would be afraid of the discus jumping out when spooked. Gorgious tank in deed!
