I have a question about the Coconut carbon block prefilters for the R/O systems. Anyone out there use them? I need to buy some new filters for my system and was thinking going to them and wondered if anyone had any problems with them. I have a lot of Ammonia in my well water and thought maybe too that I could us it in a stand alone filter to use tap water to mix with my R/O for wc.
Here is what I was looking at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2pc-Pre-Post-Water-Filters-Fit-GE-FX12P-GE-FX12M-RO_W0QQitemZ360174333787QQcmdZViewItemQQptZSmall_K itchen_Appliances_US?hash=item53dc102f5b&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262

Don't have to get this brand just looking at this good price

If you could sound off quickly, because I need to order in next few days or so.

Any info on this from anyone would be great.

Thanks

Kyle

Many generic carbon block filters are made from coconut husks from what I can see, so to all intents and purposes they perform exactly the same as a granulated carbon would.

I am sure they perform the same, but I was more worried about weather there is anything that would harm the fish that comes off the shells? I assume not,but wondered if anyone has been using one and has no problems.

Kyle they are used in just the same way, so nothing harmful comes off them.

I have bought from that seller a few times. I think I paid 108 including shipping for 12pc of the coconut 20" pre filters. ALLFORWATER was the seller for those.

Ed Thanks alot! Just wanted to see if others have tryed them. They seem to be even better then Carbon and take out some VOC. Do you use 1 micron or 5 micron?

Thanks
