I just noticed that the tail and pectoral fins on my Blue Snakeskin look like this...

Can someone help me diagnosis what it is and how should I treat it? None of the other fish are exhibiting this. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know. Thanks, Kali

I would increase water changes to daily and see how this progresses. It may be just a sign of water quality issues.

Keep us posted.
Make sure to use stable ph water.

just curious but did you use a net to catch the fish recently?

Is it just this fish? Are there any other changes in the affected fish?

Yes, I did a rescape on the tank, and transfered them back and forth to a holding tank.

It is just this fish no others. I don't see or notice anything else different about him. There is no listlessness, heavy breathing, or loss of appetite.

This often happen to me when I use a net to transfer fishes. The tail and only the tail get dammaged on the edge like that.

To avoid this I know use a bucket and guide the fish in it with my hand, then I transfer the fish in the bucket.

Maybe that's not what it, but maybe that's a possility.

it might have been the net like previously mentioned. i once had a bd have a similar thing on the tail and it was because it burned the tail on the heater. that fish was very shy and liked to hang by the heater, go figure

Since you have told me this believe it or not I have had 2 that have laid against the heater in the night and gotten burns, both were so extensive that they died. :( I have now made something to put around my heaters so that they can't touch them, and it will never be an issue again. I am not sure if it was because they weren't feeling well and wanted the warmth or not. I have never had a problem with it before.

Discus won't lay on a heater to the point of being burned. They will move before the actually start getting fried. I'd be skeptical about what it may be.
