I had a 50 gal storage tank of RO water. I kept a heater in it until one day my wife emptied the water too much and the heater leaned against the tank, melted it and made a hole in the tank!

Someone suggested a piece of marble tile on the bottom of the (new) tank so I can suction cup the heater to tile to solve my problem. (It worked..sort of).

My question: Is the marble raising up my PH? It used to be around 6.6-6.8, but today it is up to 7.2. The tile is only 8 by 11 inches, do you think this is the problem, or maybe a better question, do you think the ph will continue to go up? If it stays at 7.2 will this be ok for a planted community tank?

IMHO I wouldn't worry about the Ph at all, as long as it's stable. The best thing to do to see if the marble is causing this issues is to test your tap KH, then the tank after a couple of days. If your KH rises, then the marble is causing the Ph rise. The best thing to put is a tank is any fired tiled. Kiln fired tile will not leech.

Best wishes!

WOW, was that a fast reply!!! THANKS!
I'll check the KH and check out the fired tile.

Thanks again
