Hi,

Currently I have 3 melon and 2 red rose and intend to feed BH mixed with asthaxantin.
I used to feed them with plain BH.
These red discus are about 2.5 - 3 inch in size excluding the tail.
Will there be any effect on these discus when it reach adult and ok for breeding?
Any undesire effect on the fry?
thks.

How much astaxanthan are you planning on using?

hi,
I bought it from the fish shop... but the package stated with asthaxantin
:o
It is advisable just to feed plain BH if we intend to keep the discus for breeding at a later stage? thks

This is a benign ingredient, and very useful for bringing out the red color in your red fish. I don't have a ratio of astax. to heart, but don't worry about it hurting your fish.

If it's natural astaxanthin from algea (the usual source of powdered astaxanthin) then it won't hurt and will even be good for your fish. Don't add more than 1tsp per pound of mix and you'll be fine.
