My cell phone has been getting hammered lately by telemarketers...did some searching on their numbers and came across some discussion forums...

Didn't know this but I guess cell phone numbers are going public this month so if you aren't registered on "Do not call lists..." you might want to..

call this number from your cell phone....
888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list.

It will only take a minute of your time.. It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON .. It takes about 20 seconds. this info from http://whocallsme.com

Thanks for the info Al!! Will this work on the house phone as well? I get hammered on the house phone relentlessly!!

Nevermind... I already called with the house phone. Seems as though it wont stop them but give you an avenue to file a complaint.

Yea they are real nasty.
Just remind them the next time that they are calling a # that is on the no call list. That helped me ALOT :D
But I guess you already do that:)

Ronald

Not only do they call. They now sms as well.

I switched over to GV (google voice). I now screen all my unknown calls first.

For anyone interested, here is a link about the free service and demo.

I've been on the do-not-call register since it was founded and it's amazing how easily callers can get around it. For example, being on the register does not matter if you have ever done business of any kind with the caller. Some callers suggest they are public interest callers, or not-for-profit information seekers, etc... You can tell them to take you off their list, but it doesn't mean they will. I reported my chain-owned lfs to the register complaints because he kept calling, in spite of my repeated requests to get off their list. The last time he sent me a $5 gift certificate to make up for it. :argue:
