I have 3 fry left, and 2 adults left out of my Discus keeping venture, Could I keep them together in a 55 gallon? or would they be better in the smaller group?

adults in the same tank as fry will certainly run the fry off at feeding time. if you're going to use the same tank, use a divider

I figured that, but what I really want to know is, since they both like being in schools maybe they'd be better off as 5.

A friend of mine has a tank with more than 12 discus, and that includes 3 or 4 younger guys, and the adults don't seem to bother with them at all.

When food gets dispersed into the tank, everybody gets some. Feed at both ends of the tank if you have to...

Those subadults are skinny- feed more, change more water until they have nice broad foreheads...

Sure the fry can go in the tank with those other fish but they will get punked and they will not develop properly. Sure food gets dispersed but the older ones will still eat more. Also, those sub-adults still look like Juveniles to me. You may be able to pump the fry up to catch up to the others, maybe not.

Those are LFS fish, I've had them about 6 months, their not growing much at all. I bought them before I found this site.

How abouth if you keep fry (2 1/2 inch and up) in the same tank as a sub adult but with a divider. I read some stuff abouth pheromones produced by adult fish that significantly reducing the growth of small fish cousing stunted fish.

I had to move them in there the other day to make room for more fry shipments, they all seem happier to be in a school, after quarantine, I'm probably going to move the adults out, and move the new fry into the 55.
