Hi guys,

I need suggestions on what type of foods I can feed my yellow strains and prevent them from turning orange.

Thanks!

I fed my yellow with FBW and my own BH mix (only beefheart, cod fish, bananna and garlic). I also use Kensfish's earthworm flakes. Ken told me that flake would not cause the fish to turn orange. So far so good ...

A standard beefheart mix should not cause the fish to turn orange. I use my BH mix on all of my fish and they tend to show thier true colors IMO. I do not add anything that enhances color.

Best wishes!

Thanks everyone for all the info. If anyone knows about a good pellet that would not enhance the color, please let me know.

Thanks!

Man, that blows! I guess I can't add links to Simply searches. Do this Jose

Click on search/advanced search/type in yellow discus/select food & nutrition/then click search

This will give you all the posts in the past on what to feed yellow fish. I dont have yellow fish but I would use cod as the base, maybe add peas or spinach, old banana, lutein supplement. Thats just what I would try.

For my growout yellows I am using FBW ,BH mix made of bh,spirulina flakes, nls grow pellets , garlic, and banana for binder. And Eddies seafood mix. Six feedings of each a day. Hope that helps. Ordering some earthworm flake from Kensfish.
