Hi,

I have a water sample from a fellow aquarist, which I would like to test for pH and TDS, but don't want to stick my meters in it, because then I would have no way of disinfecting them.
Would a few minutes in the microwave at 750W be a good solution? Would that kill the nasties in the water?

Thanks,
Nandi

I'd think it would. If it boils for very long at all, then the TDS will go up... and the pH might move further away from neutral... maybe... not sure about that...

Thanks for the advice!
I wasn't actually thinking about boiling the water other than maybe heating it up a little bit, I would rely on the disinfection power of the microwave, if it has any.

I'd bring it just to a boil and quit...

Alright, I'll give it a try and advise.
Thanks!
