Pretty much that.

Also, what makes an eruption different from a straight leopard?

What is an alenquer?

What's the difference between a ghost and a butterfly?

I have investigated some sites and books for basic names, but some of these escape me still.

I'm studying up as much as I can - help a newbie out? Thanks all!!

If you compare a leopard and a eruption leopard the amount of spotting is greater on an eruption and sometimes smaller. Over all more patterned.

An alenquer is a strain of discus. Similar to the original wild brown i think.

I'm not too sure of the other two.

Thanks!

So, alenquer is similar to a wild brown... in what ways? Does it have similar markings and simply come from a different location? Or is there a distinctive marking that signifies it as an alenquer?

I realize that some of these questions may not have any answers. I just want to know if we are all just pointing at fish and calling them crazy names or if there is some sort of scientific methodology behind the reasons for the names - even if the names themselves are fanciful.:fish:
