Hello to everyone,


I've been reading Simplydiscus for a almost a year and i never got the change to introduce myself.

My name is Marian and i live in Bucharest, Romania.
I started keeping discus 1 year ago and i must say that i have learned a lot during this time.

I have 3 tanks:

The planted tank - Juwel Rio 180 L

The March and August setups are winners at a local tank contest.
The last picture is actually 2 weeks old and meanwhile i have made some small changes.
I have removed the 2 smaller ones leaving a total of 6 discus 12-15 cm.
The tank is CO2 injected and i am doing weekly 70% water changes.
I'm feeding them once per day because most of them are adults.

Here is where i grow my discus.
The big majority are 11-11.5 cm.
There are currently 14 here but 3 are going to leave soon.
They get 70% water changes every other day and after every feeding the dirt is vacuumed with Eheim Vacuum Cleaner.
I'm trying to keep the water as clean as i can.

This is the QT tank.
At the moment is the home to a bunch of angelfish fry which i hope to sell as soon as possible.They have grown very fast and the tank has become tooooo small for them but i don't have any other tank left.

For the future i am planing in getting a bigger tank 400-500 L so i can have more room for plants and discus.

I like the tank. I to started in planted tanks and made the transition over to discus. I've also begun pulling more plants and making the tank discus friendly.:) Very nice set up. Thanks for sharing.

I am glad that you like it.
In Romania there aren't so many discus lovers and the discus market is very small.
We only have one forum dedicated to the king of the aquarium and that is http://discus-club.ro/phpBB2/index.php (i hope that i am allowed to post the link).
I started out with common fish and plants.
After that i kept many plants and angelfish and now i have added discus but i won't ever stop keeping plants.
I like the image of discus in planted tanks.

Hi Marian,

Your planted tanks and discus are very beautiful- you obviously know what you are doing. Very nicely done :) I was also able to visit your beautiful country and go boating in Bucharest in 1995, while on an archaeological dig on the banks of the Danube at Schela Cladovei near Drobeta Turnu-Severin. I remember vividly seeing a huge factory on fire across the river on the Serbian side one day whilst digging, the flames were visible from over a mile away even in daylight. The Romanians I met were very pleasant people indeed, our neighbors made wonderful baba ganoush :D

Great job with the tanks, loved the pics and movies.

I am glad that you liked my clips and also my country.
Lots have changed since 1995 and are still changing.
The Danube is a wonderful place when you go in the summer.
It's Delta it's even more beautiful.
If discus fish were living in the Danube i would have always been there studying them :).
