Discus Size

Question when people talk about having 2, 2.5 or 5 inch Discus does that include the fins or just the diameter of the body? Or does it mean from nose to tail fin?

If measurement includes the fins, mine are much larger than the 2.5 inches they were sold as. And they also have a lot of color. Just trying to figure out about how much bigger they are going to get.

when most people around here talk about sizes they usually use the TL (total length) which means from lips to tip of caudal fin. there are some that go based on SL (standard length) which means from lips to the base of the caudal fin (peduncle, not including the caudal fin).

Thanks. I was a little confused as to how to measure them. Two are just a bit over 2.5 inches the other three are about 2.5 if I go by standard length.

just give them clean water and great food and they will grow well for you ;)

I have been doing 50% to 75% water changes every other day. I don't have a q-Tank anymore (30 gallon cracked) so I put them in the display tank with 15 diamond tetras, a clown pleco and 5 panda cories.
