Do pairs ever fall out over where to spawn?
I recently added a breeding cone to my tank.
Both Discus were doing the shimmy, and cleaning the cone.
I went to bed, got up in the morning, and the male is now over at the other side of the tank protecting the filter intake.
Even to the extent that he will nip at the female if she comes near.
She continually swims over shakes her tail, starts to swim back to the bredding cone, comes back close to him. He shimmys, then nips her...and the cycle starts over again.
