View Full Version : Algae on breeding cone only

I cant find this king of algae anyhere else on the tank.not on the substrate or not on the glass...any suggestion. Dosing Excel every other day

Sometimes I get algae on my cones also and just pull them out and scrub them with a course sponge.

You can let it soak in bleach for about 5 min. then scrub it good and rinse well.

You are getting the algae because the cone is WHITE! You will continue to get it as long as it stays that color...Bill

Oh didnt know that...I had ordered this from Ken's.maybe i should have specified as brown instead..There is always a next time :D

Brown ones get it to it just takes longer to notice because of the color

My thoughts on this:

-You may be only noticing because of color, prob have in the plant leaves too
-It may be growing better because of the porosity of the cone
-the material could be leeching some phosphates

Anyways, it doesn't look problematic.
