You did an amazing job on that tank! Love the slate pieces making the background and the wood. Is that fake wood or real? Nice group of Juvies you have there.

All the best,

Eddie

Eddie, thanks for the compliment! The wood in the center is real. Hopefully everything is under control and both the fish and plants start to thrive. The discus now love strutting their stuff every time I enter the room now, begging for food.

Thanks

Brad

i really like the aquascape, great job! the only thing that i noticed is the current, seems kind of on the high side but i could be wrong. just keep in mind that discus don't really like a current and prefer steady water.

Hello...

What a great tank... the slates in the back......... how are they posted up to the back of your tank? Are they staggered?

How do you keep it from falling down in your tank and potentially damaging the glass?

Great tank.. thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments. The current is really pretty mild, although the one power head is a bit powerful at the top of the tank. It keeps the water flowing into the overflow box pretty good.

The slate is attached with aquarim sillicone and is very secure. (I know because when I was first doing this, I tried removing and re-arrange it, and they wouldnt budge, no matter how much I tried, so I made it work)
I also have some plastic egg crate under the sand, to build up the height of the substrate, and to help prevent the sand from having dead spots as it is not nearly as densely packed. With the under gravel jets, the PVC pipe runs under the sand, and sends the oxygen rich water up through the bottom, keeping things from sitting too much on the bottom.

I learned and duplicated alot from this site. On Franks tank, he has had the rock background up and running now for several years with no problems. Frank Mueller has some beautiful tanks!
