hey would a uv light get rid of algea growing on the glass or on driftwood?
my problem is i have about 85 watts of light on my tank at 8 hours a day to keep my anubias and java ferns alive, but ive been getting algea on my expensive wood and its very unsightly. the anubias leaves are alsogetting algae on them as well. im doing weekly water changes of 50 % in a 75 gallon with 8 4-5 inch discus.

UV sterilizers with help with algae but not eliminate it.

You can put your lights on a timer so they are constantly kicking on and off. I have mine set for an hour and half followed by half an hour off. This cut my algae problems in half.

When combined with a UV sterilizer I have almost no algae problems.

Hope that helps,
Josh
