Lately, for the past week or so, my discus have started to eat my snails after I squish them on the side of the tank. They here the snail go pop as I kill them and then go wild trying to eat them as they fall to the bottom.

I think this may have something to do with their diet. I have been feeding several varietys of angels plus flake food, which has a much stronger "sea" smell to it and I think they now assoicate the snail taste with that.

Anyway, Is there anything bad about eating snails, like digestion troubles?

Thanks

well..snails are intermediate hosts for parasites..like tapeworm so i was told by a fish vet .
other than that..most likely full of protein.

And calcium!

Personally I would not feed them snails, i'd be too concerned with possible blockage not knowing how well their digestive systems break down snail shells. I would not think there would be any big nutritional benefit.
