I'm thinking I should paint my 46 bow, but am concerned about toxic fumes getting into the tank...any suggestions here? Is there a certain kind of paint? Also, my discus seem to hide alot, so I draped the sides with towels and they appeared to be much less shy. Should I paint the sides as well, or will they "grow out of it"?

all you gotta do is get urself lots of plastic garbage bags and masking tape/painters tape. you want to use the bags and the tape to close up the top tank opening...this is the most important part...THIS WAY, no fumes/spray or anything can get INSIDE the tank. make sure its nice and tight, and sealed really well. then I use the tape to mask off the black rims and stuff, basically anything you dont want to get painted, mask everything but the glass.

use standard krylon spray paint. make nice even sprays, all in 1 direction. throw a couple coats on there. let it all dry, fill the tank.

its super easy, just gotta be patient and anal if you want it to look nice.

let Eddie give u some tips, he has schooled me on this and made me a tank painting pro! ;):D:D

What Jason said, and you use any indoor/outdoor spray paint. I prefer krylon brand, plus they have LOTS of colors available. Pastels are best IMO, keeps the tank bright and the fish express better coloring.

Take care,
