;)

Just playing with a new lens and new flashes. Getting the hang of it. Not great but here ya go. My background is distracting, and the flashes are putting out a little to much direct light atm. But here is my Royal Gramma in my SW nano tank thats in shambles right now after much neglect. This guy is still going strong though.

Thanks. If anything its the flashes and lens. Heh. The camera body is the oldest generation of Rebels from Canon the 300D, old school these days...don't even make them anymore! The lens is one i've waited on literally since it came out a few years ago. Canon 100mm F2.8 Macro and the flashes are the 580ex ii and 430ex ii both being used as slaves.

Just from playing with this setup I can honestly say if you are deciding between lenses and flashes and can't get both at once, go for the flashes. More light makes a world of difference. The lens can do pretty amazing things though.

This is only the begining. Wait until my discus tanks get setup again....and maybe a new SW tank? ;)

Hi Matt,

Those are awsome pictures. The fish looks like it was going to swim right out of my screen! I definately have to get a camera, but with my limited budget (grad student) I guess it will have to wait. Thanks for the wonderful pictures and sharing your experience with us.

All the best,
Billy

In the third picture, you can see there is a little bit of tartar build up on the fishes teeth. :D
