Hello,
I have 2 juvenile snakeskin's, one is roughly 6 months old and the other is only a month old....I have 4 other Juvenile's in the tank as well, the snakeskin is the only one who still hasn't gotten much of its adult coloring. I am new to the hoby so any information would be greatly appreciated :)

What type of flake? Try something with color enhancers/natural ingredients to enhance color.

KENS PREMIUM COLOR FLAKE WITH NATUROSE ADDED: GREAT FOR ADDING COLOR

My BS are 7-8 months old and starting to color up nicely with a varied diet. I've been using New Life Spectrum Thera +A to bring out their color. I'm about to make an order with Ken, so I might try Ken's flakes as well.

Thanks Jen! There are different approaches to try. What works for me is that I feed them a smaller portion at first of the new food first thing in the morning when they are typically their hungriest. They will still turn their nose up at it at first, but I leave it in there for an hour or so and find they will go after it within that time and sample it. If not, I vacuum it out and try again two or three time a week in morning. I won't feed anything else until their next scheduled feeding and use whatever they're used to.

I only feed the NLS Thera +A two or three times a weeks. Usually within a few attempts they will take the new food.

Also, the NLS Thera +A comes in pellet form. I use three fingers and pinch whatever I can and submerge it below the water surface for a second or two, so that it sinks faster. Depends on if your discus readily will feed from the surface. Mine prefer to feed from the middle or bottom, but now that they are older will go to the surface as well.

Good luck!

Thanks for the great suggestion.....right now I feed Spectrum Cichlid formula, and TetraMin flakes....i would really like to push the pelets though as more of a staple because of the nutritinal value, so i would try what you suggested :)

Actually, there are some extremely good flakes on the market that would kill any pellet. Try Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef, which will also enhance color. Also, Angel Plus has many good flakes that are packed with nutrition.
