There was a thread on this filter a while back, maybe fall of last year--take a look, it was a fairly long one!
Best regards,
Harriett

I agree with Eddie...a lot of bells and whistles along with a hefty price tag for something that you rarely look at.

Im ol skool too. Caught my eye at first but if something malfunctioned there is 100 some odd parts to deal with. I wish they design a filter that could adjust the temperature. Nothing beats simplicity.

I saw a display at my LFS set up by the company. The LCD readout was full of condensation where you could not even read it. Water and electronics are not the best combo...Bill

If I was to spend $400 + on a canister filter, I'll get an Eheim, :D.

Eheim 2180 has a built in heater. That's my next filter.

I am very happy with mine...if only it would clean itself. ;)

And it does a great job of adjusting the temperature.

I see that folks don't like Fluval's that much...I have had 2-405's for many (5/6 years) and haven't had any problems at all.. regular maintenance I think is key..I change impellers once a year and have had to replace the impeller cover on each unit once (small clips bread off).. As far as the FX5..love it and replacing all my canisters with them..I also run 2 Aquaclear 110's and 6 70's with no issues at all..I don't know why other complain about broken, noisy and just junk..Look after them and they will give you the expected service they are meant to give..

Hagen has the BEST customer service too..
