I have a female pidgeon blood, and an unsexed melon that lay eggs...but eventually eat them. i was wondering if you can tell if they are fertilized so I can put a cage over the eggs. they are small and brown, and there are some white ones that are bigger.

I'm really only sure the evening before they hatch. Go ahead and put the cage on shortly after fertilization, if you like. Is the male making passes?

If you see both of them making passes, then cage them when they are finished. After 24 hours or so, you'll see if they were fertilized by the color.

good luck with that one! Mine have eaten 5 lots of eggs. I have not seen them laying as its always been dark and the female now seams to have a passion for eggs! She also has a white worm thing coming out of her head that was about 3 mm long with a pointy end. This is now fluffy so it looks like its about to drop off.

I have seen this before so im not worried, anyine reading this know what it is? I know wrong post for this section.

good luck
