I have a 75g right now that i'm going to get rid of the fish in it now (oscar, dempsey and pleco) I'm going to have credit at the lfs from trading the old fish in. I'm going to buy my discus off some breeders on here the lfs doesn't ever have any nice ones. what would be some good fish to get as tank mates for the discus? I would like to get some german blue rams will they do ok with discus? what are some other ideas for fish?

What kind of pleco? If bushy nose pleco is OK. Rams are OK too.

first and foremost, you will need to disinfect that tank, top to bottom. do you know how to do this?

Yeah i know that i will have to tear down and total clean te whole tank and filters. i was going to do like i normaly do and wash everthing in bleach water then vinger water then rinse everything with clean water will that be good enough. the pleco i have now is like 13" so i won't be keeping it.

I keep a school of rummynose and two rams with my discus - No problems between them at all. Also, one royal pleco.

I would say no problem what so ever. If you get a pair of Betta's they might be a problem but ours are very peaceful.

I'd like a single male betta splendens, a male golden ram and a male blue ram to keep with my discus, is that still ok?

I'm sorry, I worry too much I know!

I had 6 german blue rams in with my discus and over time they all died. I have a 92 gallon tank with 8 discus in it and the rams were in the tank first. The rams seemed very scared and stopped eating after adding the discus. Someone had told they were to small and the bigger discus had them freaked out. The rams were about 1" and my discus are about 3". I now have a 4" hystrix ray in with my discus and they get along great.

Do you have plants and lots of hiding places.

You can't really do a community tank without plenty of cover for the nervous fish. Stress from other fish is one of the biggest killers in community tanks.
