This little guy is about a year old and he has been my slowest growing discus. Do you guys think he looks stunted?

It's a little hard to gauge how big he is, but from an eye/body ratio his eyes are rather large for his body. I would say he's stunted. Has he always eaten well? Did you raise him from fry? Are there other fish to compete with for food?

He is one of my best eaters and not much competition just other discus. I've had him since he was about 3 months old. Ill try and take some pics of him next to other fish and you guys can tell me what you think

Looks stunted to me. Besides a big eye, for nearly a year old, it should be much bigger for an adult...Bill

Have you periodically dewormed?

They have never shown any signs of worms until recentley, they have cap. I am treating with clout and am going to be hitting them up with levismole as soon as I get the shipment. Sad that he wont grow to his full potential, however he is going to stay in my tank. I get attached. Probably because I only have one tank and its just a hobby. :)

THANKS

Nothing wrong with stunted and who knows you may get some growth yet still.:)

Stunted for sure, but looks healthy. I think with care, clean water & good diet you'll eek a bit more growth out of the little fella yet as he is only a year old.

The fish in my first post was from somethingphishy.com.... The fish In the latest post are from Gabe Posada, he runs Jack Wattleys hatchery in south florida.

If any fish do look stunted its probably my fault, the breeders are not to blame. Especially the ones from Gabe Posada. This guy is a pro and has amazing quality IMO.

Well I think you are right about worming them with the Levamisole, remember to follow up the treatment with another, 7days later. Rest the fish and perhaps then treat for possible tapeworms with the Prazi Powder. At least they wouldn't be sharing their food with the internal parasites. Epsom salts during treatments to help them void any worms.

all of them look stunted to me to be quite honest with the 4th and 5th from the second set being your best looking fish. i'm not saying there is anything wrong with stunted fish but you wanted to know which ones were. i've kept stunted fish before and they can be great pets if kept healthy. good luck with your discus.
