I'd try a razor scraper first, lots of fresh blades. After that, paint stripper... after that, maybe acetone or muriatic acid... the latter is really dangerous stuff, only to be used outdoors with rubber gloves and eye protection, with a running garden hose handy... the fumes are dangerous, as well...

The price of single edge razor blades falls dramatically when you buy quantity. At my nearby Ace hardware, a package of 10 is something like $3, while a package of 100 is $10... easy choice, there...

thanks John I figured since it was starting to peel off i would try to razor it off .I figured I could light grit sand it since I am going to paint the back bottom and sides.I have a line on another tank also which I am going to try to get it tomorrow. Its a standard 55 gallon and stand this mirror back is a 55 high....probably made the wrong decision with the mirror back but I will make it work. All I need is some elbow grease and a radio...:D

You don't need to scuff up the surface to paint it- just use rubbing alcohol or acetone to make sure it's very clean and oil-free...

I have a mirror back tank and kept a lone female brown discus in there for years (gasp! Kept a discus by itself?!?!). :D Didn't have any problems. The tank was planted. Here's the tank:

Hope that helps,

With that many plants, I don't think it matters! LOL.
