Hello everyone. I have a 75 gallon planted aquarium with 5 adult pigeons. The tank is fairly established with O2 injection. Ph is at 6.5, and 82 F for temp. I have noticed before 2 discus paired up early in their stay in the tank. When I got home today I was amazed when I saw them lay eggs on a leaf of an amazon sword. Not a lot of eggs about 30-50 I think. What are the odds of the eggs surviving? I don't have a spare tank to transfer the pair. Although I'm thinking of doing that next time. Thank you.

Congrats on the egss, it means your discus are happy if they are laying eggs.

You have to ask yourself if you want to breed discus? Are you prepared to put the time into raising the young, it takes much more time and dedication than simply raising adults.

If the water is hard(high TDS), the eggs prob will turn white and not hatch.

If the pair is young they will probably eat the eggs or the other inhabitants will, but Ive had free swimmers in a 225g discus tank, I didnt raise the young but it was wonderful to watch the pair do their thing.

All the info ya need will be in the breeding section if you want to try your hand at breeding.

Well done :)

You'll need another tank to raise the fry as well. :)
