I have always kept 1 bristle nose pleco in my breeding tanks...the discus keep them at bay and the pleco is always hiding under the sponge filter. I have never had problems with bristle nose plecos eating the eggs.

Never tried a clown loach...

I had 5 BN plecos in my 120 gal tank and a unexpected pair of Discus started breeding on the driftwood. This is the same place the plecos look for food and hang out. The Discus kept their guard and no eggs were stolen... not even with 40 cardinals in the tank... they kept a good guard...just leave the lights on if there are eggs so it helps the parents see the other fish.

All my breeding tanks have pleco's in them. None of my discus tanks ever have clown loaches in them.
