I've had one for 6 weeks, runs great and quiet. To be honest I dont even hear it running, I check the fluval once and awhile to make sure its running. Its on a 125 also.. purchased my fluval on ebay for $200 new.

I've got 2 FX5's going in my 240 gallon and love them.

Quiet and easy to clean

I got my FX5 as soon as they became available in the US. So several years later, I still like it. Good investment, they work hard, easy to maintain, very very quiet.
I bought mine for a 180g planted discus tank and did find it was not quite up to the task on it's own [my viewpoint, of course] so after a few months I added a second smaller canister [Cascade 1200] and now I am happy. I made a spray bar for the FX5 that runs horizontally along the bottom of the tank at the back, and the output goes up the back wall. Moves the water around gently at the surface, doesn't blow off CO2.
Best regards,
