Thought I would share a few pics of my new fish (babies) from Rod Lewis (Aus) imported from Jeffrey Yang.
Valentines, Checkeboard PB's and Blue Diamonds
Had these fish about a week and they are settling in well. They are housed in a 6 x 2 x 2 with daily water changes. Always very hungry and putting on size already. Hope you like them.

Hi April,

If i am not mistaken they are biological filters April, kind of like an undergravel filter but in a pot for easy maintenence.

Rod is spot on April. They are undergravel filters ... I almost shudder when I admit that because I know they can be big trouble if not attended to on a regular and strict basis.

The tank itself is a 6 x 2 x 2 foot and the filtration consists of the following.
3000 l/hr pumping up to a home made top filter running the full length (6 foot) of the tank filled with aquarium sponge. Also three large sponges going flat out

and

3 undergravel filters running flat out. These are gold fish bowl, round filters of about 5 inches. I cut a piece of PVC conduit to the height I want and put an elbow on the end. This then fits over the small uplift tube of the filter. I fill the little bucket up with gravel to whatever depth I want. These also go flat out. Its surprising how much they pump out. They are a very efficient filter.
To keep these funtioning correctly I use a long gravel vac that is connected to a powerful pump to clean the gravel in the bucket every week.

Warning though - if you don't keep on top of their maintenance they cause a lot of trouble.

Thought I would update the pictures seeing they have grown a bit.
I have finished with 2 pairs of Checkerboard PB's, 1 pair of B Diamonds and no luck with the Valentines... looks like they are all female (3 out of 4 have laid eggs)
Plenty of spawning runs from the pairs but nothing fertile as yet.
Please excuse the dirty tanks ..... they are ready for a water change.
Hope you enjoy
