Should I use an ammonia absorber?

Hello Everyone:

I just went to my LFS to purchase some replacement cartrige for my HOB filter. I noticed that there is an ammonia absorber cartrige for my HOB. Should I try this or would that just starve the bacteria I have in my tank by absorbing all the ammonia?

If your tank has the right stocking of fishes combined with regular water changes; there's no need for those extra things. IMO, just sponge and extra porous media for bacteria to grow on is good enough.
