You could easily have 12-14 fish in that tank depending on your filtration system

It depends on water change and the number of filter u going to use. I got 12 on mine and change water every day.

I like to pack 'em in myself. I'd go with 12 or 14 at adult size. The tank (especailly a BB) looks so good when it's full of fish. Of course you must have decent filtration and more importantly be dedicated to doing WC. With 14 adults in a 125 I would do 50% daily regardless of my filtration.

I'd offer that 8 fish would look great, if they're big, fat, and happy.

Water quality and discus health can go to hell in a handbasket rather quickly with high population densities. So it's extremely important to invest in the means to siphon off the poop and change a lot of water quickly and easily if you're going in that direction.

I know I'm a slacker, a prevaricator, a "I'll get around to it" kinda guy... and I think my fellow humans are often much the same. I also know that won't work with discus, so I invested time, effort, money and ingenuity up front to make it easy, so that I'll actually do it well enough to stay very much on the good side of water quality. And it's paid off, and will, I suspect, continue to do so.

I can completely agree that younger discus need lots of wc, but in a tank that size with goodfiltration, I don't think daily 50% would be a requirement...I mean realisticly its just not..it may help enduce spawning, that I dont know, but I know discus are happy and healthy with less wc than that much daily.

Discus only, all 6+ inches, agree with Dan, 12-14. Definitely depends on filtration/water change frequency.

I have 11 in mine, they are in the 4-5" range. I do a 80 gallon water change about every week. It is very heavly planted. I feed twice a day.
