Only have a 10g spare tank right now. Wondering whether it is too small for 50 cardinals? Thanks.

That would be about 300% stocked, so no it is not big enough. They would be OK for a few days with plenty of aeration and WC.

You should be fine with almost 100% WC daily, as the bioload of cardinals is
really low .
Just keep a mature sponge filter and good areation.

Hi Pardal,

with 50 cardinals in the tank, I don't think I can even do 50% water change, since fish probably don't have enough space in 5 gallons of water. No?

I wouldnt put 50cardinals in 10 gal , they will be too stressed from bumping in to eachother , bio might work fine with 100% wc , but still i would put them in 20 + gal

I'd go spend $10 bucks and get one of those plastic tubs/trash cans that they often sell to store stuff in. I picked up one at lowes recently that was 26 gallons, for $6 bucks. I've been using it to grow out some fry in.

Yeah, yeah I know, it might not be "safe" but it works for me.

Hi Yboat,

The problem with those is you can't see the fish. the purpose of QT is to see the fish so that you can treat them for diseases.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
