HEY EVERYONE...IM JUST WONDERING WHY EVERY TIME I PUT NEONS ON MY DISCUS TANK..THEY END UP MISSING.

IVE NOTICED THAT WHEN I TROW THEM IN MY DISCUS QUICKLY BEGIN TO PECK AT THEM...

If the neons are small enough discus will eat them or wound them while trying. Maybe try to find some larger cardinal tetras for your tank. I once had a large group of cardinals in my discus tank. The discus chased them for the first day and then ignored them after that. I think the cardninals fare better with higher temps too.

discus loves live swimming food, thats what the neons are to them.

Neons probably won't survive at discus temps for long periods of time anyway. They tend to die off one at a time at higher temps. I used to have a big pigeon female that loved to crush cardinals, and then drop them. I don't think she really saw them as food, she just enjoyed breaking their spine. You would see dead cardinals in the tank that had this ^ shape. On another note, it's cosidered rude and shouting to type with locked caps on the forum. Just so you know. :)

I wouldn't think your dream should be over, I had the fortune of buying good quality cardinals, started off with 16 of them, then I lost 4 within the first couple of days, I believe they were eaten, but then the remaining 12 had been doing great they even grew a little, the discus are not interested in them anymore, as a matter of fact they are the more numerous of the type of fish I have and the most ignored by discus, plecos and rams.

Lost one yesterday, small chance I siphoned it out on the WC, I think the canister filter sucked it up while sleeping, they are very strong swimmers otherwise, so I lost 5 in 2 months, I don't foresee any of them disappearing anymore.

My advice would be, getting a few more than you want because you will lose some, someone said that cardinals are like socks, you lose them without a trace.

David

P.S. Extremely cool to see a school of cards with a school of discus.

I hope you quarantine the tetras before adding them
