My Discus Tank

Hello everyone,

My name is Abner and i am new here. A beginner as well.:)
This is my 60G tank.
aquaclear 110 HOB
i was given a Magnum 350 and a jebo 835 but i am not using them.

i Have 8 discus fish in here that i know are not BEST quality..thanks to you guys in the forum ive been learning more and more

Im not familiar with the names so please correct me if im wrong. My biggest fish the yellow pigeon blood, blue diamond, and leopard ive had since Feb.i bought them just as small as my other discus in here. They have grown in 5 months. But Ive been reading that in order for them to REALLY grow they need clean water and a BB tank is a MUST. i currently have gravel in mine and driftwood. i Feed them 5-8 time a a day. Tetra Color flakes and once a day i feed them live bloodworms...ive been reading that live bloodworms are a big NO if i were just to freeze them would that make a difference??
All of my fish seem fine. there are no fish hiding, no bullying, nothing.



-Is there a way of making them grow just as much without a BB?
-What is the Best PH for my fish?
-How can i achieve that PH?
-What would be BEST For my fish?

Can you guys please help me with the names of my fish.
like i said, they are not the best quality fish, but i love them

Welcome!

First off I would like to tell you that there is nothing wrong with a stunted discus, as long as YOU are happy with them!

It's not imposible to grow discus in an aquarium with gravel it's just not easy to keep clean since your feeding heavily. With the amount of feedings you are doing you have to make sure to siphon the gravel and keep up with water changes.

I don't like feeding bloodworms because there is always the risk of introducing parasites. That's why I stick with Mals freeze dried black worms (fish love it).

Don't worry about your Ph. As long as it stable and does not fluctuate, it's fine.

You can name the blue one sky, the white one snow and the yellow one sunshine. Have a little theme going. Ill leave the othere up to you, haha

lol. what i meant was like their official names like blue diamonds, pigeon bloods? i dont know what i have lol

I really dont know that much myself, but shouldn't he remove that angel? I always heard angels carry diseases that discus may get.

1st 2 pictures - Red Turquoise

2nd - Pigeon Blood

3rd - Blue Diamond

4th - Snow White/ White Diamond

5th - not sure, could be a cross

6th - Checkerboard Pigeon

7th - Cobalt Blue

8th - not sure, but looks Pigeon Based

ive had that angel since he was less than an inch big lol..he and my discus have been doing great these 5 months that ive had em.

Water changes, feed with high quality food, water changes, water changes. :)

Domestic Discus nowadays could strive in different water parameter. Consistency is the key.

-How can i achieve that PH?

Like above, keeping the same PH over a period of time is the key to success. This includes other things such as, TDS, KH, GH.etc

-What would be BEST For my fish?

Give them the best you could offer them? :D
