They are all over the place now. Not free-swimming yet.

Very few attached in the first few days of free-swimming

They all seem to like this corner, I tried wiping it during the WC. Didn't help, also the water is now lowered to the height of the male.

Its 1 week now, a few more attached. But all of them don't stay attached at all times, is that normal?

Let me know what you all think. This is first time a pair has reached this stage for me so far.

Yes,

When attached they sometimes wonder around, and then come back to theyre parents back. It's normal, don't worry about it.

BTW, Great red color.

ah ok. Thanks. More and more seem to attach now, they are 8 day old and seem to have around 25 frys. Not a big batch like others have here, but a good start i guess.

Its 2weeks as of today, They are starting to try some BH and starting to look for food at the bottom of the tank too.

They don't seem to eat any BBS yet, may be will try again in another two days.

.

Two weeks? They were on the cone a week ago. Fry 'birthdays' are when they go free-swimming - the first day they go free-swimming, they are one day old. I always thought that odd, but oh well. So how old are they? It seems odd that they are eating bh but not bbs. Is it newly hatched, live, bbs? Lovely pair!

The last two pics in the first post are taken when the fry is 1 week old. I just posted all the pics from wriggler stage in one post, that seem to have caused the confusion, sorry about that.

Yup, they are 2 weeks old. I don't think they are really eating BH, but just taking a bite. Its the frozen BBS i tried to feed them.

Visu,
Great job my friend, congrats!!! If I could suggest dropping the water level to just above the pairs top fins as they become free swimming it increases the attachment rate dramatically....IMHO.
Also, you can take the sponge filter out for 48 hours as they are attaching and that again will force them to the parents.....just add a airstone and everything will be just fine...don;t feed them.

Great job!

Thanks Martha and Kevin, will try to keep the thread updated.

Eric,

Thanks for the suggestions, i will have to try it next time. It was little late by the time i try to reduce the water level, couldn't reduce it too much since the male was restless with the change.

I will try to have it reduced gradually, next time around.

And thanks again for the great pair!

No problem at all....dont worry about doing it slowly, just do it like you are doing a water change....they will be fine....I usually do it when the first few are starting to jump off the cone....

Congrats on the pair...they look great...you have done a great job settling them in...
All the best
Eric
