I got 3 very healty looking 4" Marlboro reds the other day and when I got them, they looked yellow with red eyes and black fins in the bag. They have been in my tank for 2 days with no color change. I wanted red to orange Marlboro's not yellow. I also got a red Turq and a Red snakeskin that are stunners from the same farm. Sould I take reds back to the LFS or will they color up? The LFS ordered them from a whole saler in Thailand.

Thanks,

Kevin

Red fish tends to take awhile to regain their true colour, otherwise you could feed them food containing carotene, this will enhance their red colour.

You've tried Tetra Prima, colourbits? I don't feed any of those, but for 'natural' colouration, I feed them brine shrimps. There's others you can use like Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef.

I got them fresh from the farm in bags so I was thinking that the pale color was do to shiping so when they got aclemated they turned yellow. I tryed pime reef and they don't toch it. I talked to the LFS so I'm takeing them back todayand trading for some Royle reds and red snake skin. The supplyer has great looking discus for a good price. I will postpics of my tank soon:D

I took them back and got 2 red snakeskins and a royal red all 3 are stunners:D.
Are the Royal reds a cross of a red turq with a blue turq?

A GREAT relationship with a LFS is a beautiful thing and all too rare. Glad to hear they made you happy.
