I just bought a 120 gallon tank I will be setting up in a month. I am really thinking about doing a 3D background in this tank with black substrate. I know they are not cheap but where is a good place to look at and possibly buy some 3D backgrounds?

AL,

Do you know how those backgrounds attach? I'm having to assume they are more than just a film but rather an architecture piece than mounts to the inside of the tank. Very nice but very pricey..$450..ouch!!..Ray

The ones I have been looking at range from $200 to $470. The instructions say you mount them using silicone. Here is the website

http://www.aquariumhabitats.com/index.html also sells these backgrounds. You have to cut them to fit your tank, then silicone them to the tank. They look good, I know Hans has one on his show tank. Some have said the backgrounds trap debris behind them, and are hard to clean. They do take up varying amounts of tank space as well. They are rather expensive also.

You brought up some good points I haven't thought about.

I just ordered a background from this site:http://www.designsbynature.net/

Pricing was really reasonable and the quality was good.

Hey mteel,

Any chance you have some pics of the new background?
