5th Spawn, Having trouble

Recently got a SS pair and they have spawned 5 times to far. The female always eats the eggs the next day though. If I put Gutter Guard (cage) around the cone will it teach her to not eat the spawn again? I Cant remove her as i have no place to put her. Any suggestion's ??

Welcome to simply and congrats on having a grea looking pair. Some females will eat there eggs on the second day or as they start hatching. They get excitied. Yes you can put a cage over the eggs and that will protect them until they are free swimmers. She still my eat them but its worth a chance.

Are they garding them well??? Are you leaving on your lite??

They both guard the spawn. She normally peck's at white eggs first and then gradually she starts eating the eggs and doesn't stop. I will put mesh around the next spawn though. Thanks, Dan
