If I have a 20 gallon high tank and I do a 4 gallon water change every day, is that good? or should I do 4 gallons every other day?

Is this a breeding tank for discus? It also depends on how many fish you have in there and what your substrate is. Are you using tap water or RO?

I change 50% of my water on my 30 gallon breeding tank every other day if that gives you a general idea.

It also depends too on your filtration.

yes this is a breeding tank with only two discus. I am using a sponge filter with tap water. I suppose I should do a larger water change everyother day then...

I would recommend it based on your feeding habits.

I have learned alot from this forum and one thing is water change, water change.

Have your pair been in tap breeding or is this a new pair? Care to tell us about them, photos type, etc.

What are your water parameters (ph, Amonia, etc).

They are fairly new and I was told that they have been spawning in tap water with the use of some Discus buffer. I currently have not used Discus Buffer but my pH is about 7 - 7.2

The temperature is 84 degrees

The male is a white butterfly "throwback"
The female is a pigeon blood

pictures to come soon!

My pair is breeding is in 100% RO water at 84 degrees. I change 50% every other day. There are many success stories about breeding in tap water (mine won't breed, just the one time). Success falls upon patients, or so everyone says, Lol.

I do 50-60 percent WC on all my 20 gal breeding tanks. I fill them up with 40/60 mixture of RO/TAP water and don't add anything but SAFE.

I do WC daily every other day depending on what I feed.

Whether or not you can successfully breed in tap water pretty much depends on what the TDS is out of the tap. In my case I'm over 300 so there's just no way. Now get under 100 out of the tap and the other conditions are right and using tap wouldn't be a problem.

I use tap water for my breeders, TDS is 80.

I do about an 80-90% WC on my breeding tanks every other day.
