2 days ago one of my blue diamonds (the male) stressed and darted while I was doing my water changes.:(
He is already in an extra tank 25 gallon together with a female blue diamond after they coupled up in my main tank.
Anyways, this is just to say that he is already in a separate tank.
First AID I used some Aqua Salt, because it looked just like a surface scratch.
But the second day I noticed that the right eye started bulging out.

I started him with the treatment routine of Andrew Soh.

- fomaline dip for 25 min - 100% water change
- heavy 2.5 dose of Antibiotics - I choose kanamycin - 100% water change
- normal dose of kanamycin
- no light

Behavior today stressed - little funny swimming - eye still bulging.
My Question:
Did I do the right things? Is the antibiotic the right choice?
which signs will tell me - whether the treatment is working?
What is the prognosis?
Andrew Soh also mentioned Copper Sulfate, do I have to add that together with the kanamycin?
Do I feed while treatment?
How can I reduce stress?
Thanks Anja

I would have skipped the formalin in this case. With wounds or gashes, the fish can die if dosed with formalin, especially a dip as the concentration is much stronger.

Now, the Kanamycin for the eyes bulging is a step in the right direction. How much kanamycin are you dosing?

Hello Eddie,
The tank is 25 gallon.
I use KanaPlex by Seachem - active ingredient: kanamycin sulfate 40%
inactive ingredient: potassium sulfate 60%

I use 1 level measure (small spoon inside the tube) on 5 Gal like advised on package - so I use 5 of the little spoons.

You'll probably want to get a larger amount of Kanamycin. Kanaplex is a fairly small amount and you'll want to treat with much more than what is suggested on the directions. Seachem suggests 1 spoon per 5 gallons but this is 5 times less than what is required.

Each level spoon measurement is 180 mg, you want to dose at 1 spoon per each gallon to get close to the recommended amount.

Do not feed during treatment and don't have any biofiltration going. Only an airstone and heater if required.

OK I understand.
I will do.
He is darting around what can I do to reduce stress?
And
Is that normal? Do I have to worry?

I would turn the lights off and cover the tank if he is around a high traffic area:
A good place to get kanamycin is thru one of our sponsors here:

No, he should not be darting around. Could be the after effects of the formalin, no telling. I wonder why he darted in the first place, that caused him to damage himself?
