Just started the scape yesterday. 135 gallons, 2 x Rena XP3, 4x96 CF, Pressurized Co2.
Cories, congo tetras, cardinal tetra, Wild Uatuma blues.

You need to ignor the big rock on the piece of manzanitta and the sponge filter in the corner. It will take a couple of weeks for the manzanitta to become waterlogged and the sponge filter is from the blues old tank. Transfer a little bacteria.

Awesome looking setup you have there, I love the super clean sand! What kind of sand is that? Is it new, or how do you clean it without sucking up it up?

The fish are superb too, are they wild caught? Or f1, f2? Some of them kind of look like heckel Xs

Thanks, the sand is just pool filter sand, nothing special. Using a normal siphon cleaner the sand is not light enough to be sucked up.

The discus are wild blues. I've had them for about 6 months. They came from Snookin21, one of the sponsors here.

Thanks, once the plants grow in there will be some more shade, still have a little more planting to do. We have a big local auction here this coming weekend and I will probably find what else I want to plant then.

Thanks Eddie, Jball. The tank is a 40$ craigs list special. 4 of these guys were my first wild discus. John (Snookin21) has some great fish. I knew when I got them that they needed to be in a show tank eventually.

Thanks Barb, only thing missing is one of your cones. Alas, I am afraid this tank won't get one of them, lol. I will update with pics as the plants grow out and the scape takes shape. I have had a lot of planted tanks and it still amazes me how stark a newly planted tank looks compared to several weeks later. This is my first planted discus tank so I am biteing my lip to keep from over planting. Need to leave room for the discus but I really like to stuff a planted tank.

That's a very georgeous set up. I have white sand as well but because of that my plants are dying for food. How do you feed the plant?

Thanks. A lot of growth in the first week. I will have to get some new pics up.

I dose ferts using the EI method. Best explaination of that can be found here.

http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/fertilizers-water-parameters/21944-_dosing-regimes_.html

So I dose daily alternating between macro and micro's using dry ferts. Doing a 50% w/c weekly flushes the system and I start over again.

I use this method of dosing on my high light/co2 tanks no matter what kind of substrate is used in the tank. Here is a 75 that has eco complete. Not a discus tank.

Our local club auction is tomorrow. Have to take it slow though, don't want to end up crowding out the discus.
