I have 2 big Vacations in the next month. I was just going to do a extra large wc and not feed my larger cichlids while I'm gone. Maybe have someone come over to give them food every 2 days.

What about my young discus? What do you guys do if you are gone for 10 days? I have a friend that could do a water change for me. But not everyday. Do you use auto feeders?

10 days for juvies, I'd use an autofeeder. Definitely have them in the biggest tank you have and ensure your kH is stable enough to keep your PH from slipping.

What about water quality? If I'm feeding them the same amount but not doing regular changes will that be a problem? No way I'm missing a trip to Paris because of my fish.

I will get the auto feeder and set it for once a day. My friend can do a water change for me she keeps fish too. I just can't ask her to do daily wc you know.

It depends, if the juvies are in a large tank, maybe one or 2 water changes but I don't trust anybody taking care of my fish, and I mean anybody.

Six 3" discus and some 1-2" Cory cats in an 80gal tank. That's it.

Oh, I wouldn't even risk having somebody else do water changes. Thats an extremely low stocking level and being fed once a day, for 10 days...you would be golden. Whats you kH?

I have soft water. If I do a wc once a week my ph drops .5 so the tank ph will drop when I'm on vacation.

Add calcium carbonate. This is what I use when I'm going away for a while. It works wonders for buffering the PH without shooting it up.
