I finally decided they were big enough to move into the 215. I still have 3 others that are growing slower, so they are still in the grow out tank for now.

They are a bit skittish, but here are some pics!

very nice discus, let me know if you see any pepering due to the substrate. I also have some checkerboard discus, and am curious about his. From what I heard they get peppering from the dark substrate, but I want to know verify this. thanks mate.

Dark substrate can have an affect on amount of peppering. You can see peppering on those pigeons in the fins and face. Not bad peppering but its visible.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Wow these are pretty fish I just bought a few 3 - 3.5 inchers to add to my collection they really set it off don't they? I mean I have red Turq a BD a cobalt and a SS but my 3 PB's really set the tone.

These guys grew out in a bare bottomed tank. And, they peppered. These pics were from an hour after going in the tank - the peppering is not due to the big tank's substrate.

Being honest, I was a bit worried about it. But, the black accents, especially on the pigeon bloods, I think is really nice. Sets the fish off. But, then again, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to this.

They seem to be settling in well. The cardinals do NOT like the discus, however. They school COMPLETELY separately!

What type of discus is that in the last photo next to the pb? it has really prononced stress bars? pretty fish I was just wondering what it is thanks! oh yeah really nice lookin tank and fish!! nice and round look nice and healthy. I have 3 pb's as well the one is called a sunset with very little to no peppering it the one in my avatar you really have to look hard to see any, and the other two look kind of like yours not heavly peppered but theres some. I don't mind it to much as long as it is not really pepered that I do not care for so much.:D

I was thinking that as well, but man those stress bars really stand out, I can hardly see the bars on my red turq I mean you can barely see them at all.

I have three red turks and usually don't see stress bars on the dominant fish, occasionally on the number 2 in the pecking order, and almost always on the last in the pecking order. The come and go on the smallest one but when they are out - they are pronounced!

Great looking tank!

These guys are still young - about 5". The one with the bars is a Hans Red Scribblet. On the Discus Hans website, it seems this strain has pronounced bars.

I have seen this alot regarding dark tanks/substrate affecting peppering in pb strains wouldnt it be best to try and produce a fish that contains no peppering regardless of lighting and coloration of there suroundings?

Oh I like it looks cool, I was just saying that the only bar I can really see on my turq is the one over the eye and even that one is light colored, I think they look cool, I was just wondering if they were so prononced becouse of stress or somthing. But if it is the normal look of this strain then I like it.

Interesting to know, I normally do not see the stress bars so much on any of my fish and I have 7 of them all around the 6 onth of age mark, there bars are pretty much all on the light side. In fact sometimes they only way you can see them at all is when they turn their bodies at a certain angle.

Here are the Scribblet photos from Stendker. Notice even the mature one has all of his/her bars:
