Hey guys,
Found a local guy on craigslist selling two pairs of discus so he could free up more room. Obviously there are three turqs.. but are they red or blue? He couldn't remember, he's and angel fish guy. And a wild green? Just making sure. The turqs are around 5-6", the green about 7". They are all approx 2 years old. The green and his female have had wrigglers before, but never made it passed that, and other two turqs have always eaten thier eggs. I bought the group for $300. How'd I do?
They are all currently in a 55 gallon, I was originally going to put them in thier own 55g, but the pair of turqs were so freaked out even by having me in the room that I thought I'd put the green/turq pair (much more outgoing) in with them for the time being until they're used to me. Almost instantly they were swimming and eating. I'll seperate them in the future.

They weren't real happy about having thier pictures taken, so sorry for the third pic with the clamped fins, but it was the only shot I could get of that particular fish.

Your last picture looks like an Alenquer and they others look to be Brilliant turqs. They are all nice looking fish:)! If I am incorrect please correct me.

Definently no wild greens there. The last looks like an Alenquer or santarem type. Maybe one of the generic wild browns. Whether it is truly wild or not, I couldn't tell you.

I think it was just the lighting. They don't have cloudy eyes in real life.

What's the difference between a turqouise snake and a regular turquoise?

Those are not turquoise snake. They are blue turqs, 9 bar and large striations. Also, that one with minimal striations is a wild type (blue).

Thank you Eddie. That was what I was looking for. Is there anything wrong with large striations? I will do some research to try and understand the differences between wild type blue and wild type green.

Nope, nothing wrong at all with large striations or lines, its just that snakes have finer lines. ;)

Turqs. On the one odd ball...maybe an alenquer but I have also seen plenty of fish like that out of turq parents. They may well all be from the same spawn. If they are healthy you did fine. They are not supper high quality but they are not bad either.
