how long to keep a discus medicated after it responds

one of my san mehrahs had not been eating for several weeks. 10 days ago, i separated him into my QT and started metro (400 mg per 10 gal).

after 2-3 days, he started to eat again and has been eating steadily for the past week. :):):)

i have three questions:

how much longer should i continue the metro?

how much longer should i keep him in QT before returning him to the DT?

i have been doing water changes every other day on the QT but adding metro every day. is this an ok schedule?

You will get a lot of different opinions on this one but I would treat with metro for 6 days. Upon conclusion of treatment I would leave him in the QT tank for 2-3 weeks minimum and watch for signs of relapse. It is not uncommon for the discus to develope a bacterial infection after treatment so watch the poop closely.

Keep in quarantine for a wk, keep temp up to 90F, then slowly decrease temp over a few days to regular tank temp.

I'd finish the treatment recomended, 5-7 days of metro. I usually add it for 7 days if after 2-3 days there was improvement.
