Hello. I am retuning to the hobby after an 11 year "break". I am now living in NJ and my water has a very high nitrate concentration. I would prefer not to use RO or DI water (except to replace evaporation) and plants are not an option. I was thinking of setting up a small canister filter, loading it up with a DeNitrate type product and reducing the flow rate. This would be in addition to my regular canister filter. I have a 40g tank and Eheim 2217 and 2213 filters. Would this set up work in the long run? Are there better products out there now? My goal is to not to use chemical media , if possible. Thanks in advance.

You may want to post in the Water Works section or have one of the admins move this thread as this section is purely disease/treatment. :o
